There are many ways to get involved in the General Plan Update.
Attend Community Workshops
Community workshops are being held throughout the General Plan Update. Sign up now to receive notifications of upcoming community workshops and public hearings, or check What’s New and the calendar.
Following are the major stages of community participation:
- Visioning and Issue Identification: In this first workshop, the General Plan team provided an overview of the General Plan and led participants through interactive exercises to capture visions, values, issues and opportunities for the City of Murrieta. We asked participants to tell us about their experiences in Murrieta and their hopes for the future. The workshop was held twice in order to make participation more convenient. Murrieta’s youth were welcome at this workshop, and there was a separate visioning workshop for teens.
- Land Use: Participants explored different scenarios for land use and growth in a community-wide workshop, as well as workshops held in the five Focus Areas.
- Goals & Policies: Workshop participants were asked to suggest goals for attaining the ten Community Priorities that came out of the visioning process, as well as ways that Murrieta can promote health while pursuing those goals.
- Draft Policy Document: The community will have an opportunity to review and comment on the draft General Plan.

Take Surveys
There were two online surveys during the General Plan Update to complement the visioning and issue identification workshops. The visioning process resulted in the drafting and refinement of ten Community Priorities. See the Community Vision Report on the Documents page for a description of these priorities and the visioning process.
